Trumpet Sellers Begin to Pack Jakarta

Seasonal trumpet sellers begin to pack the city welcoming Christmas and New Year 2015 celebrations. In West Jakarta, trumpet seller locations are on Jalan Bandengan Utara, Bandengan Selatan, and Glodok Pancoran.

Kamin (47), a trumpet seller in Glodok, told that he and his seven colleagues intentionally come from Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, just to sell trumpets for Christmas and New Year.
“I’ve been selling trumpets for five years. Every year, approaching Christmas and New Year, me and my friends come to Jakarta just to sell trumpets,” he said, Tuesday (12/16).
Ahead of New Year, Satpol PP Intensively Holds Liquor RaidGenerally, each seller carries at least 100 pieces of trumpet in various forms. The cheapest price for one trumpet is Rp 5,000. But, the price can rise to Rp 20,000 a piece one day before Christmas.
“For the price, we’ve standardized it among traders so there won’t be clash,” uttered the man who in regular days works as a farmer with daily wage in Cikarang.
While on Jalan Bandengan Utara and Jalan Bandengan Selatan, Tamansari Sub
-District, about 20 seasonal trumpet sellers are seen in both locations.“We’ve been selling trumpets for more than seven years. We based on Jalan Bandengan Utara. The income is quite good, we could get Rp 300-400 thousand a day during Christmas until New Year,” expressed Yayat, one of the trumpet sellers.
